Home of the African Elephant

Crowned by Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest peak, the Amboseli National Parks is one of Kenya’s most popular parks. The name “Amboseli” comes from a Maasai word meaning “salty dust”, and it is one of the best places in Africa to view large herds of elephants up close. Nature lovers can explore five different habitats here ranging from the dried-up bed of Lake Amboseli, wetlands with sulphur springs, the savannah and woodlands. They can also visit the local Maasai community who live around the park and experience their authentic culture

Explore one of Kenya’s top safari national parks that is known for having big herds of elephants and stunning views of Mount Kilimanjaro.

Starting from Nairobi, we’ll pick you up at dawn in the comfort of our own 4×4 Tour Van/Landcruiser.

We’ll start early (07:00 am) on our journey to Amboseli National Park

Maestro Experience will take you on several game drives during your tour here as we travel over open savannah, acacia woodland, bush country and marshland in search of the exciting wildlife this park offers.

Day 1:

Nairobi -Amboseli

Meal Plan: (Lunch & Dinner)

We will start our trek early on the Nairobi-Mombasa Highway, crossing the African savannah. We’ll soon take in a luminous Kenya sunrise lighting up a countryside of homesteads and brightly outfitted Maasai herdsmen with their cattle. Within 3 – 4 hours we will arrive and start the adventure with our first game drive. With Mt. Kilimanjaro as our background, you’ll see the herds of elephants.

Arrival and Lunch

We’ll settle in at designated lodge to check in, have a short rest, freshen up and enjoy a sumptuous lunch. We’ve already spotted wildlife in the park, but our day has hardly begun!

Afternoon Game Drive

We’ll set out for more wildlife viewing on afternoon game drive. Covered by Savanna and acacia trees, the open flat plains will give you a superb chance to watch the herds of buffaloes and the graceful gazelles, zebras, warthogs and waterbucks as they graze in and around the swamp and marshes which are also hot spots for the elephants.

Sunsets and Elephants

If you are after the classic Hollywood image of Africa – elephants silhouetted by epic sunsets, with the mighty Kilimanjaro in the distance, that’s Amboseli for you. In the late afternoon, you will realize the clouds and mist that hid Kilimanjaro out of sight have lifted.

Now the snow-capped Mount Kilimanjaro is welcoming you into its domain. The photographs really cannot do it justice. Its massive bulk looms over the vast dry grass plains that stretch endlessly to either side of the eternally snow-capped peak.

Dinner & Overnight

Return to the designated lodge for dinner and overnight before dusk.

Day 2 & 3

A Full Day of Game Viewing

Meal Plan: (Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner)

We like to rise early while on safari to set an adventurous tone for the day. We’ll watch the light breaking upon the park and catch the wildlife as it appears on the savannah.

Our next assignment: breakfast! And then another morning game drive through the park. One of the advantages of Amboseli is that the terrain is open with thin foliage. This makes the game spotting easier.

We’ll be watching for lion and leopard and the park’s almost ever-present great parade of elephants. Seeing the magnificent elephants patrolling in line before the majesty of Kilimanjaro is a special treat of this reserve

Lunch at your accommodation is next and perhaps some relaxing time. The day is yours to pace as you want.

Should you want to fill your day with unlimited game drives, your guide is available to make that happen as well.

The park is favorite to many safari goers who want to have an up-close view of free-ranging Elephants, Cheetahs, Lions, Leopards, Bat Eared Fox, zebra, Giraffe, different types of antelopes among other wild animals

Dinner & Overnight

Return to the designated lodge for dinner and overnight before dusk.

Final Day

Amboseli to Nairobi

Meal plan: (Breakfast)

We’ll start on a pre-breakfast safari and see who we can check off our list. Don’t forget to look for the smaller animals here like hyenas, foxes, jackals and monkeys. There’s also a colorful variety of rich birdlife in the park – pelican, kingfisher, egret and heron are found near the park’s marshes and lakes. We’ll enjoy one more Amboseli breakfast, with views of great Kilimanjaro and then a final game drive as we exit the reserve to Nairobi.
